Set within the rural landscape of Arden Lakes, this project combined a replacement fishery manager's dwelling and store with three self-catering fishing lodges, supporting the long-term operation of the established fishery while responding sensitively to its Green Belt setting.

The replacement dwelling was carefully designed to meet the specific accessibility needs of the client's family, creating an inclusive home with generous circulation spaces, integrated fishery management facilities and accommodation that supports both family life and the day-to-day running of the business.

Inspired by the simplicity of agricultural buildings, the contemporary design adopts a restrained material palette and a low-profile form to reduce its visual impact within the landscape. Native planting, biodiversity enhancements and low-carbon technologies further reinforce the project's sensitive and sustainable approach.

The resulting contemporary home is designed to sit comfortably within the landscape, with the lower ground floor partially sunken into the terrain. The upper ground floor reads as a single storey, constructed in long-format Danish bricks with expansive openings and finished with a zinc roof and canopy.
