A former hairdressing salon within a Grade II listed building required conversion to residential use and integration with the neighbouring property to form a single home. The new owners sought a largely renewed interior, with significant replacement of existing elements and minimal historic fabric retained.

The brief required the first floor of the former salon to be reconfigured to create a master suite, accessed via a new staircase. At ground floor level, the front room was to be transformed into a garage/workshop and a larger entrance hall, establishing the main entrance to the combined home.

The two buildings have been connected at ground floor via a simple opening and new stepped access to the rear. A new living room at the back of the building is complemented by re-landscaped gardens that unify the external spaces.

The scheme also includes a small rear basement to accommodate a home gym. As the site lies within an area of known flood impact, appropriate measures to minimise risk were incorporated into the design.
