Appointed to design the redevelopment of the former Oddfellows Arms public house - occupying a prominent corner position on Windsor Street and Mansell Street within the Stratford-upon-Avon Conservation Area and directly opposite the Picturehouse Cinema - the project sought to bring a long-vacant and disused site back into active use.
Constrained by neighbouring residential properties and its sensitive historic context, the scheme delivers three apartments and four townhouses, providing a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes.
The new building is carefully articulated to respond to the character of this part of the town centre. A thoughtful variation in scale and materiality gives renewed prominence to the corner site, while the rear range reflects the adjacent 19th-century terraced housing.
