When planning permission for this contemporary, high-specification private residential property in the Warwickshire village of Pillerton Priors was granted, the project’s spatial planning, architectural design quality and considered choice of materials were praised by the local authority.

Design cues were drawn from the plot’s open setting and its position on the edge of the village, overlooking expansive countryside. The timber-framed building takes inspiration from local agricultural buildings, with a palette of zinc and charred or treated timber cladding that grounds the house in its rural context.

All construction materials for this build are specified to be of the highest quality, with the latest sustainable heating and cooling technologies integrated into the design. Generous glazed elevations maximise solar gain and provide uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape.

Blending sensitively into its hillside location, the property is defined by a local lias stone boundary wall and enhanced with light-bringing clerestory glazing.
