Two former agricultural buildings were reimagined as a collection of five contemporary homes, transforming a neglected farmstead into a high-quality residential development while retaining its rural identity.

The brief centred on maximising the site's potential through the sensitive conversion of two existing brick barns. The larger barn was redesigned to accommodate three dwellings, with the smaller barn providing two further homes. Careful planning of the layout ensured each property benefits from generous private amenity space while respecting the character and setting of the surrounding countryside.

Inspired by the proportions and simplicity of traditional agricultural buildings, the architecture adopts a restrained palette of materials and contemporary detailing. The contemporary design draws on the simple forms of agricultural buildings, using a restrained palette of materials and a sectional layout that allows the buildings to sit comfortably within the landscape, reducing their visual impact and reinforcing their connection to the rural setting.
