Studio Spicer played a central role in the redevelopment of Stratford Rugby Football Club, replacing the outdated clubhouse with a modern, fully equipped facility.
The project began with a comprehensive feasibility study assessing a range of delivery options, through which a strategy was identified that would enable the club to utilise the lesser-known Enabling Works planning clause. This mechanism allowed third-party development to fund the new clubhouse in full, establishing a viable and sustainable route to delivery.
Designed in close collaboration with Sport England, local community groups, SRFC and specialist consultants, the new clubhouse provides a complete suite of sporting and welfare facilities. These include five sets of changing rooms for youth, minis, colts, first team and officials, together with dedicated physio rooms, training areas and a gym.
A new bar, restaurant and commercial-grade kitchen support match days, functions and sporting events, reinforcing the club’s role as an important community venue.
Additional facilities include medical rooms, external tiered seating and secure storage for grounds-maintenance equipment.
To support delivery, 23 new homes are proposed to be developed and sold by a bespoke housebuilder, ensuring the project is fully funded and securing this significant community asset for generations to come.
