Studio Spicer Architects was initially commissioned in 2016 to design a contemporary, single storey rear extension to this dwelling. The project was extended early in the design phase to include a internal renovation and extension, to bring the entire home up to a consistent level of finish and quality.

The rear extension incorporates robust materials, which harmonise with the materiality of the listed building, but in a modern and contemporary manner.  The result is both sympathetic to the existing building and distinctive and individual in character, ensuring that the setting of the original building is maintained.

Working alongside a well-regarded local contractor, the build was completed on budget and on time in summer 2017.
