Plots 1 – 7, Charlecote Barns

Warwickshire

Client: Developer

Contract: Design & Build

Role: Architect

Current RIBA Work stage: 5

Summary of project and current status:

Studio Spicer Architects have been involved with Charlecote Barns since 2017 and have worked closely with the developer, contractor and local authority to sensitively bring the redundant buildings, formerly known as Kingsmead Farm, back in to use.

Previously converted in to holiday lets, or simply redundant agricultural buildings, the entire site was falling in to disrepair prior to intervention. Over the course of our involvement, the project has provided seven unique new dwellings offering a mix of two, three and four-bedroomed, homes.

A sympathetic approach has been taken to the adaptation and conversion of each building, and the site as a whole, keeping in mind the status of the buildings as un-designated heritage assets and the impact on a nearby Grade 1 listed house, park and garden.

The works have been delivered in phases, with Plots five to seven completed this Autumn, 2023
