Kingsmead Farm Plots 8 and 9
Warwickshire
Client: Developer: Lionsgate Capital
Role: Architect, RIBA Workstages 0 – 4
Status: Due for completion 2024.
Studio Spicer Architects have been employed by the developer, Lionsgate Capital, for many years, helping to gradually bring the many redundant agricultural buildings of Kingsmead Farm back in to use. With the sensitive conversion of these traditional buildings now nearing completion, attention has moved to some of the residual, modern structures.
Having successfully obtained permission for ‘Class Q’ Permitted Development conversion of an existing modern machine barn associated with the agricultural unit, the site will now be augmented by the addition of two additional 3-bed dwellings, in lieu of the Permitted Development fallback. Designed to have a better affinity with the traditional farm buildings, using more appropriate materials and scale, the proposed dwellings provide split-level accommodation that is sympathetic to the character of the surrounding site, whilst more modern styling and detailing have been employed to subtly differentiate from the older context.
Planning permission was unanimously approval by planning committee in early 2023. The project is due on site later in 2023 with completion projected to be early 2024.
