Extension & Remodel Cotswold House

Cotswolds

Client: Private

Contract: Traditional

Role: Architect

Current RIBA Work stage:  6

Summary of project and current status:

A large, detached property set within an area of outstanding natural beauty on the edge of the Cotswolds.

The two storey side extension and new build garage/gym juxtaposes the traditional Cotswold stone house, in a black larch timber cladding. A traditional form, detailed with a modern aesthetic, the extension adds an additional two bedrooms to the house, and incorporates a large open plan living/dining space at ground floor.

Works included remodelling the internal ground floor, refitting all bathrooms, and re-landscaping to compliment the new extension and garage/gym.

The construction presented challenges due to starting in late November/early December there were extended periods of below zero temperatures making the groundworks troublesome. March was recorded as the wettest in 40years presenting further challenges onsite, however even with the setbacks the contractor and team delivered the projects in 9-months, with our client moving in early September.
