The Pool House

Warwickshire

Client:  Private

Contract: SFA 2012

Role:  Architect, RIBA Work Stages 0 – 6

The Pool House is designed as a contemporary reflection of the existing, modernist Alveston Leys development, at the heart of this Warwickshire village.

A modern home, for a young, growing family, the new building is constructed in Danish handmade bricks, from Randers TEGL*.  Wrapped in copper cladding, the house appears to float over the lower ground floor, which nestles into the landscape.

This unique approach creates a large, open-plan family house, orientated to track the sun.  It’s the perfect environment for growing children, who can play freely and flourish, as the adults enjoy the relaxed ambience of a light-flooded home.

Through its colour, texture and scale, the building complements and responds to its mature, landscaped setting.

Completed 2017.
