Studio Spicer Architects was approached to present design proposals for a speculative rural site in Rowington, Warwickshire.

Set on the edge of an architecturally eclectic village, with very limited immediate context or street scene, the brief called for a dynamic scheme, in order to deliver a sense of presence.

The proposed two dwellings share materiality and form, but with variations in scale and detail, allowing each property its own unique identity.

The patinated, copper-clad upper storeys give connection to the site’s broader agricultural context, while the white, linear format brick bases provide solid grounding to the homes’ angular forms.

The development was granted planning permission in 2016 and is due to commence on site during summer 2017.
