Contract: SFA  – Design and Build

Studio Spicer Architects was appointed in 2016 to design the redevelopment of the site of former public house, The Oddfellows Arms, which had become vacant and disused.

The site is a prominent corner plot, on Windsor and Mansell Streets, within a Stratford-upon-Avon Conservation Area and opposite the town’s Picturehouse Cinema.

The site is spatially constrained by adjacent residential buildings and conservation considerations.

The designs propose the provision of three apartments and four townhouses, featuring one and two-bedroom accommodation.

The proposed new building design has been articulated to respond to the underlying context of this area of Stratford, a sub-area of the town’s core.

Recommended variation in scale and materiality gives renewed prominence to the corner plot, while the range to the rear reflects the adjacent 19th century terraced housing.

Due for determination late 2017, work should begin on site late 2018.
