Role: Architect, RIBA Work Stages 0-7
Studio Spicer Architects was commissioned to design a new private residential scheme set in the heart of Stratford Upon Avon, Warwickshire.
The development will form a new residential area in the centre of Stratford. This led to the building forms, language of roofs and a lack of formality fused by consistent materials and new hedgerows and tree planting.
From the single point of access off Mansell Street the houses cluster around an open space, while a row of houses run along two sides of the streets. These two elements an open space, and direct access from the street, lend character and legibility to the scheme.
The scheme creates 3 to 4 bedrooms plots with open plan living and kitchen space. Externally, textured chalky brown brickwork affords continuity to the development, while red brick, zinc window framed cladding provide a natural palette to the houses.
