Studio Spicer Architects was initially commissioned, in 2013, to develop proposals for the redevelopment of a Grade II listed group of office buildings, retaining retail use at ground floor.

Located on the high street in Henley-in-Arden, the buildings occupy a prominent central position, but were in a poor state of internal repair, having been subdivided and re-organised multiple times over the previous century.

Through careful analysis of the building fabric and history, the practice was able to restore much of the original internal plan form and create five, unique, contemporary apartments, with minimal alterations to the original structure.

New elements, such as kitchens, bathrooms and stairs, are all strikingly and purposely modern in aesthetic, clearly delineating old from new.  Key historic features, such as exposed timber structures and brick fireplaces, are left exposed, finding new pride of place, set against the clean, minimal refurbishments.

Completed in spring 2017.
