In 2015, Studio Spicer Architects was appointed to design the redevelopment of this former, derelict nightclub site, in the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon.
The practice worked closely with Stratford-on-Avon District Council planning officers and conservation team to develop a clean, modern, new building design, reflecting the local vernacular.
Final proposals are for a high-specification, nine-apartment, four-storey, mixed-use development, incorporating 167m2 of commercial space and clad in Cor-ten steel, zinc and hand-made Danish brick.
The site is regarded as a gateway to the centre of town, renowned international tourist centre and birthplace of William Shakespeare. It also provides a link to the railway station, to the west of Stratford and acts as a confluence of the main Alcester and Grove Roads.
Construction will begin 2018, completion scheduled for 2019.
