St Mary’s Road

Stratford-upon-Avon

Client:  Williamson & Spicer Properties

Contract:  Design and Build

Role: Architect – Work Stages A – L

Studio Spicer and Williamson Properties combined architectural and construction experience, working in partnership to redevelop The Orchard, St Mary’s Road in Stratford-upon-Avon into four, contemporary, bespoke urban villas.

The new, high specification homes were conceived as a hinge in the road, the new architecture resolving a disjunction between existing Arts and Crafts style properties to one side and post-war houses to the other.

The site’s original property, The Orchard House, itself an architecturally notable, 1950’s self-build, was demolished to make way for the new villas.  The introduced homes, in turn, have extended the area’s character and represent a further social evolution in the location’s architecture.

The simple, subtle detailing of the new dwellings reflects the ambitious Arts and Crafts style of neighbouring properties, while form and materials link the site to the road’s more modern, post-war homes.

The modern, exclusive interiors of the four, new homes are of the highest quality materials, tailored to create the most up-to-date, family living environments to the very best specifications.
